David Beckham has confirmed that he has spoken to his current club PSG regarding his future. The Englishman was signed on a short-term deal that expires in the summer and reports say that he may extend his stay at the French capital.
However, Beckham insists that he will not make any decision until summer. The 37-year-old was brilliant in the Champions League clash against Barcelona and fans worldwide were amazed to see his fitness levels.
The former England captain will celebrate his 38th birthday next month and has said that any decisions about his extended stay with PSG will be made only at the end of the season.
“I will enjoy the rest of the season and then we’ll sit down and talk then. I’m still training every day, the same as the rest of the players. I work as hard as them and don’t want to be treated any differently, even at my age. I love working hard and training, so nothing’s changed.”
Beckham was happy to start the game against Barcelona and hopes to have his name in the starting line-up again when PSG will visit Nou Camp next week.
“It’s always good playing in the Nou Camp and next week will be no different,” he added. “Winning the European Cup was my best memory of playing there and then when I was at Real Madrid we beat them there 2-1, the first time Real had beaten them there for a few years.
“We’ll see what happens. Thiago Motta will hopefully be back. Obviously Blaise (Matuidi) will be out of the game with suspension.
“So we’ll see. If I start, then great. If I don’t and come on, then I’ll try and make an impact. It is going to be tough there but it won’t be impossible.”
