Benfica manager Jorge Jesus has admitted to Premier League giants Liverpool’s interest in goal scoring machine Rodrigo Moreno.

The Merseyside club were rumoured to be on the trail of the Spanish international for quite sometime now, and were going to make a move for him in the summer.

However, scouts from Manchester United, West Brom and Chelsea were also in the stands during Benfica’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League last night at the Estadio da Luz, to watch the Spaniard in action.

The 22-year old has scored 10 goals in his last 16 appearances for the Portuguese club, and also has a loan spell at Bolton on his resume.

When asked specifically about Liverpool’s possible interest in the £25 million-rated striker, Jorge Jesus confirmed it.

“It’s normal. Every Benfica player is in a big window. The league is full of high quality players so it’s normal for other clubs to be interested.

“Rodrigo is going through a good moment.” he said.

If the Reds manage to qualify for the Champions League next season, which now seems a realistic prospect, they will be in pole position to land their target, with only possible competition from Chelsea.
