Borussia Dortmund block any Lewandowski move to Bayern Munich this summer

Borussia Dortmund have categorically said that their Polish star striker Robert Lewandowski, whose contract runs out in June 2014, will not be allowed to move to Bayern Munich this summer even if it means a free transfer in 2014.Borussia Dortmund general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke told German tabloid Bild today, “Lewandowski will definitely not move to Bayern in 2013. That’s definitive! We’ve now told Robert and his advisers that.”

This latest statement from Watzke sounds even more interesting, if one remembers what Lewandowski himself had told tabloid Bild only a few days ago, “We have been in agreement with the (new) club for some time now. I have informed the people in charge (at Dortmund) and I assume that all will now be cleared up and I can join the club of my wish this summer.”

“This would be the best thing for all sides. Dortmund are a fantastic club that will always have a special place in my heart. However, I am looking for a new challenge in the future,” Lewandowski had added.

Now that sounded like Lewandowski was sure to leave Dortmund and join the unnamed Bayern Munich as he and his management had planned with a substantial transfer fee going Dortmund’s way; but the Ruhr valley club do not want to lose their top striker who scored 24 times in the Bundesliga and 10 times in the UEFA Champions League to their biggest rivals in Germany.

Dortmund, as insiders say, would rather sell Lewandowski to a non-German club then rather let the Polish striker join Bayern Munich, who could have a pre-contract for 2014 in place if he has to stay in Dortmund for another season.
