Benitez confirmed as Di Matteo's replacement at Chelsea

Former Liverpool and Inter Milan boss Rafael Benitez has been officially appointed as the stand-in manager at Chelsea FC for a short term period. He will now fill the shoes of Roberto Di Matteo, who was shockingly relieved of his coaching duties following the Blues’ 3-0 defeat to Juventus in the UEFA Champions League.

The 52-year-old Benitez, not a popular choice with Chelsea fans, is expected to join the squad immediately in London after the European champions had earlier failed to secure ex-Barcelona Manager Pep Guardiola’s services.

Fans will now probably wonder as to how long the Spaniard will last with Chelsea, a club which fired a Champions League-winning manager only 262 days into his reign.
