According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, it is increasingly likely that Unai Emery will be sacked as Arsenal manager after he failed to turn around a series of underwhelming results. The 48-year-old took over the reins from Arsene Wenger last summer and led the club to a fifth-place finish and the Europa League final last season.

Despite spending heavily this summer, the Gunners have failed to kick on and find themselves in eighth place in the Premier League standings after a seven-game winless run across all competitions. The North London club's 2-1 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League is believed to be the final nail in the coffin, as the Spaniard is expected to be relieved off his duties imminently.

It has also been reported that a handful of players have lost faith in the manager and are believed to be confused with his tactical instructions, as Arsenal have a battle in their hands to secure Champions League football for next season.

Emery is expected to be sacked in the coming hours and it is believed that assistant manager Freddie Ljungberg will take charge temporarily, as the club continue their search for a new manager.
