“It’s getting stupid” – Brendan Rodgers has no interest in Mourinho's mind games

Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers feels that the level of mind games between Premier League managers is ‘getting stupid’, but accepts they are a staple point of modern day football management.

Arsenal manager told reporters that his rivals had ‘a fear of failure’ after both Chelsea and Liverpool were reluctant to declare themselves as title challengers, with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho instantly snapping back, labelling Wenger a ‘specialist in failure’.

Rodgers goes face-to-face with Wenger as Liverpool travel to Arsenal in the FA Cup fifth round and feels some people have gone too far with the mid games they are trying to play with each other.

Rodgers told reporters, “It is getting stupid now isn’t it?

“It is probably more for the media, who will make more of it than it actually is.

“As a modern-day manager there are so many elements that you have to have to your profile at this level. It is more than just coaching on the field, it is managing the welfare of the players, media and the psychology of it all has always been the case.

“I can only speak for myself and it (mind-games) has nothing to do with me.”
