Carabao Cup Final 17/18: Arsenal 0-3 Manchester City - Player Ratings

Arsenal v Manchester City - Carabao Cup Final
Pep with his 1st trophy in England

Manchester City thoroughly deserved the League cup as they dominated a half-hearted Arsenal right from the beginning. The Gunners never looked like getting back into the game and the players had well given up way before the game was over.

Sergio Aguero opened the scoring in the 18th minute after getting a long ball from his keeper and neatly chipping it over Ospina. Vincent Kompany doubled the lead from Kevin De Bruyne's short corner and David Silva's goal was the icing on the cake.

Here are the player ratings from the game:

Aguero was outstanding today

Claudio Bravo - 7/10

His long ball found Aguero who then opened the scoring for his club. Some good saves by the keeper who would consider himself lucky enough not to give away a goal after making a blunder.

Kyle Walker - 7/10

An important tackle from the former Spurs player that denied Aubameyang from scoring. He had an easy game overall.

Vincent Kompany - 9/10

A solid performance from Kompany tonight. He did extremely well to deny Aubameyang any space and he deserved the 2nd goal.

Nicolás Otamendi - 7/10

A great performance at the back by Otamendi. Did well to not only win the ball but was also aggressive to attack when in possession.

Danilo - 7/10

Danilo had a solid game. His perfectly timed through ball reached David Silva who scored the 3rd goal of the night.

Fernandinho - 6/10

The midfielder had a solid game till he was on the pitch. He was substituted early on in the 2nd half of what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

David Silva - 8/10

A quite 1st half, but was much more productive after the break. Drove the game forward and thoroughly deserved the 3rd goal.

İlkay Gundogan - 7/10

With Fernandinho off in the 2nd half, Gundogan took on the defensive role and performed well.

Kevin De Bruyne - 7/10

A rather quiet game for the Belgian than usual. He still dictated the pace of the game and the Gunners couldn't cope up with it.

Leroy Sane - 8/10

Arsenal just couldn't keep up with his pace on the left-hand side and Sane caused a lot of problems on that flank.

Sergio Aguero - 9/10

A solid performance from Aguero yet again. He troubled Arsenal's defence time and again and easily outmuscled Mustafi to get his name on the scoreboard.

Substitutes

Bernardo Silva - 6/10

A quiet game for the Portuguese after coming on for Fernandinho.

Phil Foden - N/A

The youngster came on in the final few minutes and couldn't make an impact.

Gabriel Jesus - 5/10

Coming back after an injury he made a cameo appearance as the game was well over.

A shambolic performance from the Gunners today

David Ospina - 6/10

All he could do was get the ball back out of his net, which he did splendidly. Apart from the 1st goal, which he could have done something about had he not left his position, he cannot be blamed for other goals.

Calum Chambers - 4/10

There was nothing positive from Chambers tonight. Caught out of position numerous times and could do very little to stop City's front 3.

Shkodran Mustafi - 4/10

Poor marking from the former Schalke man who let Aguero score the 1st goal comfortably. Failed to track back, poor passing, missed challenges, failed headers, simply nothing went right for him.

Laurent Koscielny - 5/10

Probably Arsenal's best defender tonight but he still struggled against City's attack and looked good because the other players had an even terrible performance.

Hector Bellerin - 4/10

Another disappointing night for Bellerin. Had nothing to provide defensively or when attacking.

Nacho Monreal - 5/10

On the pitch for only the 1st 25 minutes, he was subbed off as he suffered from a back pain.

Granit Xhaka - 3/10

Boy, was he even playing tonight? Wenger could well have played with 10 men and that would not have affected Arsenal's game whatsoever.

Jack Wilshere - 6/10

Arguably Arsenal's best player on the pitch. He drove his team forward when in possession and earned dangerous set-pieces for his team, which were never capitalised upon.

Aaron Ramsey - 4/10

He was simply outnumbered in the midfield and was simply ineffective tonight.

Mesut Ozil - 3/10

Another player that was nowhere to be seen tonight.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - 5/10

The former Dortmund player did make some good runs but failed to challenge City's backline.

Substitutes

Sead Kolasinac - 5/10

He had a bright start at Arsenal in the beginning but since then he sees to fade away with each game passing by.

Alex Iwobi - 5/10

Probably the only player who managed to test Bravo in the final minutes of the game.

Danny Welbeck - 5/10

Coming on in the final 25 minutes, Welbeck failed to make an impact.
