Carlo Ancelotti and his Real Madrid technical staff have been caught on film singing an abusive song about their city rivals Atletico Madrid. The Spanish television have apparently broadcasted the footage which was shot at a dinner hosted by the Madrid coach on Thursday.
It is reported that the footage shows the Italian coach listening to a song, which contained the lyrics: “A herd of unhappy victims, crybaby fans with an inferiority complex, who can’t handle always being second, I know it hurts, I know it’s ugly, but Atletico lacks balls.”
But it has been quoted that Ancelotti declined listen to any such song and also felt that it was “neither good nor correct.” Diego Simeone, whose team is reported to have been mocked about by his counterpart, had refused to comment on the issue at a press conference.
Atletico Madrid, who are known as the mattress makers because of their red and white striped jerseys, were overshadowed for a long time by their rich neighbours but in the past seasons they have overcome the circumstances by winning the league last year and being competitive under their inspirational coach Simeone.
The current La Liga champions, who had won the title after 18 years, beat Real Madrid at Bernabeu Stadium last year in September after extra time and also came very close to beating the Galacticos in the 2013-14 Champions League final.
The alleged song begins with:
“What’s wrong, mattress maker, you still haven’t realised that Europe is ours and you are a disgrace,”
“The years go by, players, officials too, but you don’t realise that the problem is your people.”
The next month will witness the two legs of the last 16 of the King’s Cup between the Madrid neighbours.
