Carlos Tevez would be mightily relieved after Manchester City accepted a massive bid for the Argentinean forward made by Brazilian Club Corinthians. This news comes just a day after Roberto Mancini insisted that Tevez was a valuable asset to the club and was still a City player. However, Mancini had also hinted that that might not be the case in near future. He said that Tevez never pleaded with him wanting a way out of the club but only reiterated the fact that he missed his two daughters and family. Tevez scored 20 goals for City last season and was an influential player in the squad ever since his exit from Manchester United.

The second bid made by the Corinthians is expected to be in the range of £50million after the first bid was rejected. Roberto Mancini broke the news and said that an agreement had been reached upon but other formalities are yet to be completed. Tevez’s family was having difficulties settling at Manchester and thus he wanted to be closer to his native place. Manchester City will have a void to fill once he leaves and Sergio Aguero is being looked upon as a possible replacement.

The news comes in as a surprise because Corinthians’ president Andres Sanchez was not very keen on a second bid. There were also reports that the forward was raising interest in all parts of the world including Real Madrid and Juventus. Tevez was recently playing with the national side at the Copa America and was the unfortunate one missing the penalty leading to his side’s exit. At the same time, Tevez is a proved commodity in the Premier League and his move away takes a leaf out of English football for sure.

Meanwhile Tevez’ City mates are disheartened at his possible move away. City won their first piece of silverware after a huge gap of years under the leadership of Tevez. A player at the club was reported to have said, “”We’ll be disappointed if Carlos leaves but it was down to the club and Carlos what was best for each other and they have come to an agreement so I wish both parties all the best.” At the same time, the player insisted that Carlos gave his best for Manchester City always inspite of the fact that he had applied for a transfer in December last season.

Tevez has played for West Ham, Manchester United and Manchester City in the Premier league and was appreciated for his dedication everywhere. There was a huge ruckus over his demanding a move away from the club but even his detractors have never questioned his ethics. It is a sad thing that he could not settle down at Manchester.
