Cesc Fabregas backs Jose Mourinho to retain his job

Jose Mourinho (L) has dropped Cesc Fabregas (R) from the starting XI on many occasions this season.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has given his full backing on his manager Jose Mourinho even as speculation about the Portuguese tactician’s future continues to grow after the club’s disastrous season so far, as per reports on the Daily Star. Fabregas and his teammates are languishing at 16th position in the league table, but he has insisted that the Portuguese coach will turn the club’s fortunes around soon.

The Blues’ title-defending campaign has not gone according to the script and it all started from the fall out between Mourinho and club doctor Eva Carneiro at Stamford Bridge in the season’s first match against Swansea City. The former Real Madrid coach had criticized Carneiro’s decision to treat the injured Eden Hazard without his ‘consent’.

Since then, Mourinho has been under the spotlight in England for all the wrong reasons and the club’s latest 1-0 defeat to Stoke City last week has not helped the manager’s case. The Portuguese is under massive pressure in West London, having already suffered seven league defeats with just 11 points secured from 12 matches.

The result has left the manager’s future in doubt and many have stated that he has ‘lost the plot’ at the Bridge. But according to Fabregas, Mourinho still retains the trust of his squad.

“I don't think Mou will be sacked,” the 28-year-old said in an interview.

“The coach trusts us and we trust him.”

“We all have to work together to come out of this bad spell.”

“The level of play at Chelsea does not correspond with the results, but I'm certain that we will improve.”

“I feel good and I trust this group.”

Guardiola will coach in the Premier League one day: Fabregas

If the Portuguese tactician fails to turn the club’s fortune around soon, club owner Roman Abramovich might want to consider the manager’s position at the club. There has been speculation about Pep Guardiola replacing Mourinho in West London.

The Spanish coach’s contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season and both the Premier League giants Manchester City and Chelsea have been constantly linked with the Barcelona boss.

Fabregas, who worked under Guardiola at Camp Nou two few years ago, has insisted that his old boss will coach in the Premier League one day and has revealed that Pep has nothing but admiration for England’s top-flight, Eurosport reported.

“Oh I have absolutely no doubt that Pep will test himself in the Premier League,” he added.

“I have spoken to him in the past, and I know that he likes it a lot.”
