Cesc Fabregas is one of those held responsible by Chelsea fans for the ousting of Mourinho

Chelsea winger Pedro insists compatriot and teammate Cesc Fabregas will find his form back . He was one of the players who was booed by the fans at Stamford Bridge during the game against Sunderland.

In a show of support to his teammate, Pedro told the Evening Standard,

"It was difficult for him (Fabregas) but he can get through this. He is strong mentally and very competitive.”

Chelsea fans expressed their disappointment and anger at Fabregas, Eden Hazard and Diego Costa during the game against Sunderland last week which Chelsea won 3-1. They have been blamed by the fans who accuse them of being responsible for the sacking of the Portuguese coach. Pedro however denounced such accusations. He said,

"Cesc is a top player, a very good character in the team, he is a winner and it's good he plays for us. I understand why the fans are so upset. It's normal when the team and coach are in this position.”

Fabregas has endured quite a poor season statistically as well, registering just two assists this season.

Chelsea in difficult situation

Chelsea have had their worst run of form in years, this season. The Premier League title defenders sit 15th in the league table with just 18 points, close to relegation. The win against Sunderland was a much needed one, coming after Chelsea’s 2-1 loss against Leicester City that precipitated Mourinho’s downfall. In the post-match interview Mourinho accused some of his players of having ‘betrayed’ his work.

However, Pedro holds no hard feelings towards the fans and he had good words to say about ‘The Special One’,

“Jose Mourinho is a very good coach. It is a difficult situation for everyone. It was certainly difficult for the players, but it was an important win.”

"The supporters have been good to us this season. They have always been with us, together. I don't say anything against them, they are part of us.”

John Terry also spoke in favour of Mourinho in his pre-Sunderland program notes, rubbishing all accusations that said there was a conspiracy by the players to get rid of Mourinho.

With Guus Hiddink being appointed their interim coach till the end of the season, Chelsea will look for an upturn in fortune. The Blues are supposed to face Watford before they meet Manchester United.
