Inter completed a late show against Spurs on matchday 1
Tottenham had suffered back to back defeats in the Premier League in the build-up to their first game of the new Champions League season. They visited San Siro to face an Inter side who were languishing in the 15 position in the Serie A, winning just one of their opening 4 games.

However, Inter Milan had the pedigree in the Champions League which Spurs lacked, and it was something that made them dangerous. Pochettino knew this and sent out a strong line-up to face the 3 times Champions League winners.
The first half ended 0-0 and Spurs deservedly took the lead in the 53rd minute, when their midfield maestro Christian Eriksen was set up by Erik Lamela and the Dane scored a deflected goal. It was Eriksen’s first goal in the new season and his 5th goal in the Champions League overall.

Spurs looked certain for a well deserved away win before tragedy struck 5 minutes from time. Mauro Icardi put in a piece of genius for the world to admire. Asamoah sent a delightful cross to the Argentinean who was waiting at the edge of the penalty area and Icardi hit a first-time volley to send the ball into the back of the net. Inter were level, Tottenham devastated, but the game was not over.
In the second minute of injury time, Inter won a corner kick. The out swinging corner was sent back in by de Vrij towards Vecino, who headed the ball into the net and broke Tottenham hearts. Football can be cruel sometimes, but Inter deserved the win on the night.

Inspired by Diego Maradona, Deepungsu played as an attacking midfielder for his local club at subdivision level in his initial years and scored an important goal or two. However, his all-time favorite footballer is Lionel Messi, and evidently, he feels Argentina's glory in 2022 is his favorite FIFA World Cup moment for fulfilling his long-standing dream. He is also an ardent East Bengal fan.

Unsurprisingly, his favorite manager is Sir Alex Ferguson and the Scotsman helped him get through some of the toughest days of his life. Despite believing in Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to create an iconic rivalry, Deepungsu reckons no one can match the longevity of Messi and Ronaldo. He spends his leisure time writing about life on his blog, reading books, and playing the guitar.
