Liverpool
Simon Mignolet – 6/10
The Belgian goalkeeper wasn’t tested much during the game and made a brilliant effort to stop Oscar’s clever long-range effort.
Nathaniel Clyne – 7/10
Clyne has been brilliant since joining Liverpool in the summer and put in another good performance today. He was good going forward in the first half, and was equally strong defensively in the second half.
Martin Skrtel – 8/10
He made few good blocks to deny Chelsea from scoring and won a few important aerial duels. Most importantly, Skrtel managed to keep Diego Costa quiet once again.
Mamadou Sakho – 8/10
Calm as you like it, Sakho has been Liverpool’s star at the back. The French international had a pass accuracy of 92% and was solid for the Reds at the back. He made several important tackles and marked the Chelsea players really well.
Alberto Moreno – 6/10
He started off poorly and was responsible for the Ramires goal, but got better as the game went on. He also made a brilliant run into the Chelsea box forcing a save from Begovic in the second half.
Lucas Leiva – 7/10
His tackles stopped Chelsea’s flow in the attack and he was solid defensively in the midfield for the Reds. But he was lucky to stay on the pitch and could have easily picked up a second yellow card in the game.
Emre Can – 7/10
He has been a revelation in midfield under new boss Jurgen Klopp after Brendan Rodgers kept changing his position in the team. Can put in another solid display in the midfield and won the ball several times for his team.
James Milner – 5/10
Milner was Liverpool’s worst player on the pitch today and was rightly substituted by Klopp after the hour mark. The Liverpool captain was also dispossessed several times.
Adam Lallana – 7/10
He was Liverpool’s best player on the pitch in the first half and had a couple of shots on target. Like Can, Lallana looks like a different player under Klopp.
Philippe Coutinho – 9/10
Coutinho is known to be a big match player and today he showed exactly why. The Brazilian, who has been out of form recently, scored from two absolute stunning strikes to give the Reds a vital win.
Roberto Firmino – 8/10
He started as a striker and did well to keep the Chelsea defenders busy. Firmino had a pass accuracy of 91% and made few brilliant tackles to show his defensive attributes.
Substitutes
Christain Benteke – 7/10
Benteke replaced Milner after the hour mark and was brilliant after coming on. He scored the third goal for Liverpool and won a few aerial duels.
Jordon Ibe – 5/10
He was brought on right after Liverpool scored their second goal and made few good runs. Had once chance to score but saw his effort blocked by Terry.
Dejan Lovren – N/A
Was brought on in the 90th minute and had no time to make any difference in the game.
