#3 Chelsea's watertight defence torn to shreds by impressive West Brom

Chelsea's impressive start to life under Thomas Tuchel saw them go unbeaten in their first 14 games under the manager in all competitions.

That marked the best start by a Chelsea manager, one that has been founded on the back of a watertight defence that rarely gives chances away.

Chelsea came into this game conceding just twice in 14 games under Tuchel, and only one of them came from the boots of an opposition player, with the other being an Antonio Rudiger own goal.

The contest between the in-form Chelsea defence and a West Brom attack that has struggled in front of goal all season meant that Edouard Mendy was expected to have a quiet day at the office.

However, as the saying goes, when it rains, it pours. The visitors went about tearing the form book to shreds. The five goals scored were no less than what West Brom deserved for a brilliant attacking display.

Chelsea getting reduced to ten men undeniably had an impact on the game. But West Brom deserve credit for tearing Chelsea apart with the second-worst attack in the Premier League this season.

#4 West Brom pick up a crucial victory in their quest for survival

West Brom are battling relegation.

With just nine matchdays to go in the Premier League this season, many had written off West Brom and Sheffield United as surefire candidates for relegation.

The Baggies came into this game having won just one of their last 11 league games. It would have taken a brave punter to bet on them leaving Stamford Bridge with anything.

However, the game has shown us that it is as unpredictable as it is dramatic. West Brom's result will rank as one of the biggest shocks in recent Premier League history.

Sam Allardyce initially set his side up to absorb the pressure from Chelsea, which was understandable, considering the gulf in quality between the two sides.

When Chelsea went a goal up 27 minutes into the game, it seemed as if another routine victory was on the cards. But Thiago Silva's red card changed the dynamics of the game and gave West Brom the belief that they could get something from the game.

They ended the first half on a high and went into the break with a deserved lead.

Despite their one-man disadvantage, Chelsea's quality meant they could not be written off yet, especially if they are given space and possession.

However, Sam Allardyce deserves credit for deploying his side on the front foot in the second half in search of more goals rather than trying to protect his side's lead. That went against his more conservative approach, and West Brom reaped immense dividends.

All five of their goals came off well-worked moves, especially in the second half when they took advantage of Chelsea's search for an equaliser.

The victory could help inject some confidence into the West Midlands side ahead of their home run in the survival battle.

#1 Five-star Matheus Pereira shines brightly for the Baggies

If West Brom are to avoid relegation this term, a lot of it would be down to the performance of Matheus Pereira.

The 24-year-old has been West Brom's best player by far this term, and he once again stepped up to the plate with a fine display against Chelsea.

He weighed in with two well-taken goals just before the break, which was a sucker punch to the hosts, as they would have been looking to go into the dressing room with a one-goal lead.

Pereira had several opportunities to get a hat-trick but could not take them and had to make do with an injury-time assist for Callum Robinson.

The West Brom man tallied a game-high six shots, with four of them on target, and he also made three key passes in the game as Chelsea were taken to the cleaners.
