Chelsea’s Andre Schurrle : I don’t want Arsenal to be very good next season

Andre Schurrle believes Mesut Ozil will only get better following his debut season at Arsenal and is concerned that his German international teammate could fire the Gunners into a stronger position than Chelsea.

Ozil faced plenty of criticism for his displays last season after fading away in the second half of the season following a bright start to the season, with his laid-back body language one of the aspects of his game that critics picked up upon, feeling it had not justified the club record £42million that Arsenal paid to land him from Real Madrid.

Philip Lahm has back Ozil to improve next season and Schurrle also believes that Ozil still has plenty more to offer and has backed his international colleague to flourish at the Emirates next season, feeling it will be the year that Ozil proves all of his doubters wrong and truly show his talent in the Premier League.

Schurrle told TalkSport, “I think we will see the best of Ozil next season.

“When he came back from his injury, he played very good. He got assists, he got a goal. I’m sure he will be very good next season.

“But I hope not too good, because I’m a Chelsea player and I don’t want Arsenal to be very good!”

Andre Schurrle scored eight goals in 30 appearances for Chelsea last season, converting 20% of his shots on goal.
