Chelsea being linked with Norwich keeper: Ruddy nonsense!

Chelsea have over the weekend been linked with a move for goalkeeper John Ruddy. Whilst I can see why the move makes sense for us as he is a quality goalkeeper, it is unlikely to happen as it will take too much to make it worthwhile for Norwich. Then there is the player himself, I cannot see how sitting on the bench for Chelsea will appeal to him.

Norwich value Ruddy highly in the last few years. His form has been impressive and despite an injury last season he will be an important part of their plans for next season.

With years to run on his contract, it will take a large fee to land him with Norwich in no position to be bullied; therefore do we really want to spend between £8-10m on a second choice goalkeeper?

This would only work if we were going to lighten Cech’s workload, something that has not been a popular suggestion in the past, and the Capital One Cup and FA Cup games would hardly keep Ruddy’s interest.

Ruddy is a great shot stopper, first choice for Norwich and one of the top 3 English goalkeepers in the country. Why would he want to join Chelsea to sit on the bench?

A good player but totally implausible rumour in my mind.
