What’s the rumour?

Chelsea are keen on Bruno Fernandes from Sporting CP according to reports in A Bola. The Portuguese midfielder has been in stunning for this season for the Liga NOS side and has scored 16 goals and also assisted another 12.

Apart from Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are also said to be in the race to sign the midfielder. The Blues, however, have opened talks with the player as per the report in A Bola and that puts them as the clear favourites to sign him.

In case you didn’t know...

Sporting CP signed Bruno Fernandes from Italian side, Sampdoria for a fee said to be around €8.5 million. The Portuguese side immediately added a €100 million release clause in his contract and are demanding any club interested in signing to activate the clause.

The heart of the matter

Chelsea signed Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley in the season but the trio have not been able to show their potential just yet. The Blues are ready to go all out and do a squad revamp this summer as per a few reports and Bruno Fernandes is one of the names on their list.

Cesc Fabregas is 30 years old and has just one year left on his contract. The Spaniard wants to stay at Stamford Bridge but the Blues might opt to sell him to fund moves for younger players.

Rumour probability: 6/10

Chelsea don't have a midfielder right now who can play as an out and out #10. Hazard and Willian can play in that position but they are better off as wingers.
