Chelsea could do with the start of the season being delayed, say the papers

Manchester City v Chelsea - FA Community Shield

BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND – AUGUST 12: Carlos Tevez of Manchester City is tackled by Jon Obi Mikel of Chelsea during the FA Community Shield match between Manchester City and Chelsea at Villa Park on August 12, 2012 in Birmingham, England.

One article has ripped into Chelsea after our performance against City. Here below are some short extracts from that article so have a read:

The truth is that Chelsea look as if they could do with the start of the season being delayed by a couple of weeks.

While there is time for Chelsea to get used to life after Didier Drogba, it is clear that significant issues have to be overcome in the next few weeks.

Di Matteo may want to be his own man but there is no question that he is expected to play a more expansive game this season than the one he deployed to such stunning effect in Barcelona and Munich.

Roman Abramovich did not sanction spending the best part of £60m on Eden Hazard and Oscar to see the pair bench-warming. They will have to play, as do Torres and Juan Mata.

But that reality also explains the problems Di Matteo has to resolve, in producing a team with the right internal balance.

No panic, yet. Nor, one would hope, even the start of a panic.

But concern, yes. Reason to ask questions of each other. Issues the manager has to sort out as well. For now – and it may be deceptive – they already look short of City. Which is not what Abramovich would want, or accept.

Quite harsh and damming really but again just to re-iterate, it’s still only pre season as I said yesterday.

The questions I want to ask you the Chelsea fan reading this is:
