Omeruo is going to the World Cup with Chelsea team mate John Obi Mikel

Chelsea Football Club have confirmed that defender Kenneth Omeruo has signed a new long term deal with The Blues.

The 20-year-old Nigerian born defender is yet to play a game for Chelsea since making a switch from Belgian side Standard Liege back in 2012. He has gained first team experiences, not with Chelsea but with his loan spells at ADO Den Haag and Championship side Middlesbrough.

Omeruo has signed a four contract with the club and said this after signing the contract.

"I'm thrilled to sign a new contract with Chelsea and am really excited about the future," he told the club's website.

"To play at such a fantastic club is a real honor for me and I'll be working incredibly hard to be successful.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time in England so far and can't wait to get going."

He will be moving back to Middlesbrough next season, as the club have already confirmed that he will be playing with them next season on loan from Chelsea. Furthermore, Omeruo will be going to the FIFA World Cup with the Nigerian squad this summer, after impressive performances at his loan clubs.
