Chelsea F.C have displayed their soft side and have decided to brighten up the mood at Conference club Aldershot Town. The Metro reports.
The London club have decided to donate their pitch to Aldershot Town, who are currently facing a cash crunch, at the end of the current season.
The Hampshire based club are raising funds for the British Legion and a cancer hospital and have put their current pitch on the market at £1 per meter.
The good news is that Aldershot will not have to dip into their own pocket for a new pitch as Chelsea have taken it upon themselves to replace the Shots’ pitch at the end of the season.
The Blues have even hired a couple of trucks to transport the turf from Stamford Bridge to Aldershot’s ESS Stadium.
This is not the first time Aldershot have tied up with Chelsea, who use the ESS Stadium for their Under-21 games.
Aldershot chairman Shahid Azeem could hardly hide his excitement and stated ‘Many international players have graced this superb pitch and now we look forward to hosting Chelsea’s stars of the future on it at Aldershot next season.’
Chelsea will be hoping for a win against Norwich this weekend to put pressure on Liverpool in the title race.
