Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard has claimed that Antonio Conte’s Chelsea side look the most likely to become Premier League champions at the end of the season. Antonio Conte’s men have been in spectacular form this season and currently stand seven points clear of second-placed Manchester City. Liverpool and Arsenal are 3rd and 4th respectively with 34 points, but the Reds have a game in hand as they face Everton at Goodison Park on Tuesday.

Thanks to Diego Costa’s goal against Crystal Palace on Saturday, the Blues have now won eleven consecutive games in the Premier League. Given their excellent run of form, Steven Gerrard believes Chelsea are on course to win their fifth Premier League title but also stated that they will have tough competition from other sides as well.

"At the moment they [Chelsea] are looking like they are going to be champions," Gerrard told BT Sport.

“They had a group of players who weren’t playing for the manager; they weren’t turning up and producing the goods week in, week out.

“A year on, all of their big stars are on top form. The fans are happy, all of the players are smiling, they’ve got a terrific manager.

“At the moment they are looking like they are going to be champions, but there are a few sides behind them that are going to give them a good run for it.”

The Blues look like a different team to the one finished 10th in the Premier League last season who were in shambles after the sacking of Jose Mourinho following a string of disappointing performances.

Having won the Premier League title in 2014/15, Chelsea failed to defend their title under Jose Mourinho last term. But with the arrival of former Juventus manager Antonio Conte, the West London club have found the missing part of the puzzle as the Italian changed the formation of the team and strengthened the defence while maintaining the same potent threat while going forward.

Crystal Palace looked threatening against the Blues on Saturday but failed to find the net despite creating many chances throughout the game. Chelsea have already managed to build a six-point lead at the top and are looking unstoppable at the moment. Steven Gerrard’s former team Liverpool FC look like the only side that can challenge the Blues for the title at the moment with 34 points from 16 games with a game to spare.
