Chelsea FC: Who should start against Aston Villa?

Chelsea v Hull City - Premier League

Who will play against Aston Villa?

It is a busy week for Chelsea in the Premier League. After playing and beating Hull on Sunday, we face Arsenal‘s conquerors Aston Villa tomorrow night, followed by a trip to Old Trafford on Monday.

After the game on Sunday, it will be interesting to see Jose Mourinho’s mindset ahead of Villa and just how many changes he will make from the side that took on Hull?

Jose has openly admitted that he will be rotating the squad during the course of the season but with David Luiz, Juan Mata and Victor Moses all carrying knocks, questions remain over their involvement tomorrow night.

In fact, you would imagine Mourinho has David Luiz and Juan Mata in mind for Old Trafford to give them some more time to recover and prepare.

As we know Cesar Azpilicueta wasn’t selected for the Hull game due to the travelling he had to do backwards and forwards to Ecuador last week. He will be fit and raring to go tomorrow night.

Looking at the players on the bench for Hull last Sunday, Michael Essien, Romelu Lukaku, Andre Schurrle and Marko Van Ginkel will all be pushing for a start.

So let’s hand this over to you, the Chelsea fan reading this blog post. Who do YOU want to see start the game to give us the best chance of another three points in the bag before we head to Old Trafford?

Do you think Jose should make as many changes as possible or stick to a minimum?

My chosen eleven:

If I was Jose, I would be selecting the following side to take on Aston Villa:

Schwarzer, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Bertrand, Essien, Ramires, Schurrle, Oscar, De Bruyne, Lukaku.

The reasoning for my selections?

Mark Schwarzer has been promised first team football this season and this is an ideal opportunity for him to make a start based on the run of games we have coming up.

Cesar Azpilicueta comes in for Ivanovic at right back to freshen things up. Ivanovic moves inside as I would give Terry a full week’s rest to prepare for United away. Gary Cahill continues in the middle next to Ivanovic. Ryan Bertrand comes in for Ashley Cole at left back, again giving Cole a rest ahead of United.

Michael Essien was very impressive in pre-season and should come into the side in the place of Frank Lampard. Ramires continues next to him which is hard on Van Ginkel but we need Ramires’s energy in midfield.

The attacking three gives us an opportunity to rest Eden Hazard for Old Trafford. Andre Schurrle comes in on the left to start against Villa, Oscar continues in the middle and Kevin De Bruyne also continues down the right (I would point out that if Moses is fit, he will start ahead of De Bruyne).

Up front, Romelu Lukaku comes in for Fernando Torres.

Who would you want to see start tomorrow night?
