Chelsea join Liverpool and Arsenal in chase as MK Dons' Dele Alli
Chelsea have joined Liverpool and Arsenal in the race to sign Dele Alli from MK Dons this summer, with the youngster having drawn comparisons in terms of style to Steven Gerrard following a breakthrough season at the League One club.
Arsenal and Liverpool have held a year-long interest in the midfielder with Brendan Rodgers very interested in promoting youth after being impressed with Jordan Ibe, a fellow recruit from the lower leagues after he was brought to the Reds from Wycombe.
The Daily Express now believes that Chelsea have now joined the list of suitors for the 18-year-old after manager Jose Mourinho signalled the need for a more dynamic presence in the centre of midfield, with a long-term replacement required for Frank Lampard despite a one-year deal being considered for the veteran.
MK Dons manager Karl Robinson has gone on record to suggest that Alli is the most talented youngster he has ever had the chance to work with after giving him his debut at the age of 17 last season, with the youngster having earned a more regular place in the team this year and is aware of the interest in his young starlet.
Alli’s dynamic style of play has been compared to Liverpool’s current skipper Steven Gerrard and the youngster is being tipped for future international honours with England, but the Dons are believed to be holding out for a sizeable fee for a player they believe could become a major star in the future.
