Chelsea keen on Filipe Luis transfer but Atletico unwilling to sell

The agent of Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis has admitted that there is interest in the 28 year-old from Premier League side Chelsea, but has warned that the Champions League finalists are unwilling to sell.

Garcia Quilon told reporters that there is interest in Luis from Stamford Bridge, as the London side look to replace the departing Ashley Cole. If he were to move to Chelsea, then Luis would compete with current right back turned left back Cesar Azpilicueta for Jose Mourinho’s side, but Quilon conceded that the move looks unlikely due to Atletico’s refusal to sell.

“Chelsea? The interest is there, but Atletico don’t want to sell,” he revealed.

“They want to keep every player they can for next season. Then, we’ll see what’s happening with different players, but Atletico don’t have any intention to sell anyone.”

Luis made 32 league appearances for Atletico last season, but the firm stance of the Spanish club means that Chelsea may have to move onto other targets. Following a season in which they won La Liga as well as reaching the Champions League final, Atletico are facing a summer of transfer negotiations over their key players, with Manchester United linked with Koke and Chelsea likely to sign Diego Costa.

Should they stand firm over Luis, then Mourinho’s other targets are unclear. He has previously been linked with bringing Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno or Southampton’s Luke Shaw to Chelsea, but the pair now look more likely to move to Liverpool and Manchester United respectively.
