Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho calls Stamford Bridge an "empty stadium"

Jose Mourinho upset over his home fans

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has expressed his disappointment in Chelsea’s home support after his side managed a hard fought 2-1 victory against QPR on Saturday.

The Portuguese has called the Stamford Bridge an “empty stadium” which was a criticism aimed for the Blues faithful as he felt that they didn’t get behind their team enough. A brilliant strike from Oscar followed by a second from Eden Hazard secured all three points against Harry Redknapp’s struggling side. But Mourinho wasn’t happy about the support that the team lacked at home.

Talking to reporters he said, "Everyone knows how much I feel connected to this club and the fans." "At this moment it's difficult for us to play at home, because playing here is like playing in an empty stadium.

"The team then starts playing like it's a quiet, soft game at home. It's difficult to get that strong start where the players, team and fans at Stamford Bridge [are all together].

"I was today looking around and it was empty, but not in terms of people because it was obviously full. That's what frustrating," he concluded.

Chelsea travel to Maribor this week to play the return leg of their Champions League group fixture.
