What’s the rumour?

Marcos Alonso has ruled out a move to Real Madrid for the time being. He was talking to Marca after making his debut for Spain in their 6-1 win over Argentina.

“I have not considered that possibility (returning to Madrid), I just try to give the best of me and my team. I made my (Madrid) debut with (Manuel) Pellegrini in 2009/10, and that summer I had the opportunity to go to the Premier League. I don’t know what would’ve happened if I stayed, I live in the present.” he told Marca.

In case you didn’t know...

Marcos Alonso is a product of Real Marid's academy but he only got to feature once for the senior team. He played for just a few seconds after coming on a substitute for Gonzalo Higuain in the 90th minute, back in 2009.

He then moved to Bolton Wanderers before making to Fiorentina and now eventually at Chelsea. He has been the #1 choice as a left-wing-back for Conte and he has made sure he does his best.

The heart of the matter

Marcos Alonso has confirmed that he is fully committed to Chelsea and that he has no intentions of leaving the club anytime soon.

Real Madrid were linked with a £50 million swoop for their academy product but will now have to look elsewhere. Apart from the Spanish side, PSG were also said to be keeping tabs on the Chelsa full-back.

Author’s Take

It's a good thing for Chelsea that Alonso isn't thinking of a move back to Madrid. They already have two players who are being courted by Los Blancos – Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois – and it would have been difficult for them if the Spaniard was also on Zidane's transfer wish list.
