What's the news?

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri held a meeting to clear the air after the Blues' 6-0 humiliation against Manchester City earlier this month and defender David Luiz revealed that the boss asked the players whether they believe in what he is trying to do at the club.

In case you didn't know...

Chelsea are going through a rough patch at the moment, having lost three league games since the turn of the year. The Londoners were flying high during the initial few months under Sarri but are now struggling to even stay in the top-four.

There were rumors about Sarri possibly being sacked after the Manchester City game but the Italian revealed that he is yet to hear from Roman Abramovich.

The heart of the matter

Chelsea defender Luiz has now revealed that everyone at the club believes in Sarri's tactics and have backed him to succeed.

He said:

"We have had many meetings already asking if someone doesn't believe, they can say. Nobody said anything. It’s because everyone believes [in it].
"I think it is part of the process. We are doing what he wants us to do and we are trying to improve.
"We lost against maybe the best team in the world at the moment in Manchester City. They were better than us from the beginning to the end.

He also believes that Chelsea need time to adapt to Sarri's tactics.

"We lost a few matches because it is part of the process. The teams that are at the top of the table now are ones with managers who have been there for more than three years.
"The most important thing is for us to keep our philosophy, to believe in what we are doing. We did that tonight (against Malmo), we were trying to play from the beginning to the end.
"[We have] An amazing future [under Sarri]."

What's next?

Chelsea play Manchester United in the FA Cup next before hosting Malmo FF at Stamford Bridge for the second leg of their UEFA Europa League round-of-32 tie on February 22.
