What's the rumour?

According to reports in Sky Sports, AS Roma are in talks with Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri as they seek to appoint him as their manager next season.

In case you didn't know...

Sarri has received a lot of stick from fans for his team's performances in the last few weeks and his future at Stamford Bridge is under heavy scrutiny.

The Blues were knocked out of the FA Cup by Manchester United last Tuesday and were also humiliated 6-0 by Manchester City at Etihad Stadium earlier this month.

The heart of the matter

According to Sky Sports, Roma have contacted Sarri's representatives to see if he would be interested in coaching the Italian side next season.

Roma are currently 5th in the Serie A table, 25 points behind the leaders Juventus. They were thrashed 7-1 by Fiorentina in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia earlier this month and are reportedly looking to replace their manager, Eusebio Di Francesco.

Rumor Rating: 6/10

Sky Sports is one of the most reliable sources when it comes to Premier League news. What adds weight to the report is the fact that Chelsea are actively looking for Sarri's replacement as he is unlikely to stay at the club beyond this season.

What's next?

Chelsea will play Malmo FF in the second leg of their Europa League round-of-32 tie later today before squaring off against Manchester City in the final of the Carabao Cup on February 24.

Defeats in those fixtures could ultimately seal Sarri's fate.

On the other hand, AS Roma play Frosinone and Lazio next in the league before facing Porto at Estadio do Dragao for the second leg of their Champions League round-of-16 tie.
