According to reports, Chelsea's board are concerned about the team's recent performances and have thereby held discussions with Maurizio Sarri over his future at the club.

In case you didn't know...

After three successful seasons with Napoli, Maurizio Sarri was appointed as Chelsea's new manager at the start of the current season. The Italian started his career in the Premier League brilliantly and the Blues remained unbeaten for the opening 12 league games of the season.

However, their performances start deteriorating as the season grew and they are currently sixth in the Premier League table. The Blues have lost four out of their last eight games in all competitions and their chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season are pretty slim.

The heart of the matter

Due to a string of these poor results, Sarri's tactics have been heavily criticized by fans and media in recent weeks, and he could be sacked unless there are drastic improvements in his team's performances.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea's board conducted talks with manager Maurizio Sarri over his future at the club.

The Blues board are concerned about their performances of late and demanded an explanation regarding the same from the manager. They lost 2-0 to Manchester United in the FA Cup yesterday at home, and were also humiliated by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on February 10, where they were drubbed by a 6-0 margin.

The reports also claim that the Blues are considering appointing assistant manager Gianfranco Zola as caretaker manager until the end of the season should they decide to sack the 60-year-old.
