Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has insisted that they will battle until the end of the football season to try to collect as many points as possible in the English Premier League (EPL).

The young midfielder came on as a late substitute in Saturday's exciting 2-2 draw with West Ham and won the penalty which earned Chelsea a point after he was taken down by Michail Antonio when through on goal.

Now Chelsea are 10th in the EPL standings and are definitely out of contention to defend their title. But they are still trying to win a berth in the Europa League 2016-17.

"We are a team that will fight to the end and we will keep going right until the end of the last game to try and get as high a position as we can in the table," Loftus-Cheek told chelseafc.com on Monday.

"The manager doesn't have to say much because as individuals we all want to push and as a team we want to fight to the end and get as high up as we can. I think that is a good attribute we all have."

Looking on from the bench, Loftus-Cheek felt that a free-kick from Cesc Fabregas late in the first half was going to make a big difference.

"It was a great free-kick from Cesc to make it 1-1 and from there I thought we were going to go on and get the win, but they got the next goal," the 20-year-old said.

"It was obviously a big setback. Andy Carroll is hard to handle -- he's such a presence and hard to deal with and defend against. We were unlucky not to come away with the win."
