Eighteen players from Chelsea have been picked up for their respective national teams for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil.

England: Frank Lampard, Gary Cahill.

Belgium: Thibaut Courtois, Romelu Lukaku, Eden Hazard.

Brazil: Oscar, Ramires, David Luiz, Willian.

Cameroon: Samuel Eto’o.

Nigeria: John Obi Mikel, Kenneth Omeruo and Victor Moses.

Frank Lampard (103 caps) and Gary Cahill (22 caps) are the only two English players from Chelsea to have been selected to go to Brazil, showcasing the North London club’s poor domestic player bias.

Chelsea loanees Romelu Lukaku (27 caps) and Thibaut Courtois (15 caps) will be joining team-mate Eden Hazard for Belgium, and their team is one of the favourites to progress through the group stages after being drafted into Group H, a marginally easier group with Algeria, Russia and Korea Republic. Chelsea youngster Thorgan Hazard has been named in the standby list, and awaits confirmation of his selection.

Four Chelsea players viz., Oscar (29 caps), Ramires (41 caps), David Luiz (34 caps) and Willian (5 caps)will be joining the Brazilian team for the World Cup this time, the highest number of Brazilian players any club is representing. Loanee Lucas Piazon is missing out from the list.

Samuel Eto’o (112 caps) will be playing in his fourth World Cup for Cameroon, and his team have drawn against Brazil, Croatia and Mexico. A German International since 2010, Andre Schurrle’s (31 caps) addition to the German squad for the FIFA World should not come as a surprise.

Fernando Torres has (106 caps) made the cut for the Spanish World Cup squad, and will join fullback Cesar Azpilicueta (5 caps) to Brazil. In addition to that, John Obi Mikel (51 caps), 20-year-old Kenneth Omeruo (14 caps) and Victor Moses (17) will be representing Nigeria.
