Romelu Lukaku: Chelsea future still up in the air

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku wants talks with his manager Jose Mourinho before deciding on his future, according to the Daily Mail.

Lukaku, 21, has been on-loan at West Bromwich Albion and Everton over the last two season, scoring 32 goals. He will return to Chelsea over the summer for pre-season but has been linked with a move away from Chelsea given the inevitable signing of Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid.

Despite impressing so much at West Brom and Everton, Lukaku reportedly feels that Mourinho does not prefer him as the clubs main striker and needs assurances over his future in west London before deciding on whether to sign a new contract or leave for pastures new.

Everton and Tottenham are thought to be strongly interested in taking Lukaku on a permanent deal over the summer but the Blues may be priced out of a potential deal.

The Belgian forward, who has been selected in his country’s World Cup squad, has just two years left to run on his current contract and knows Chelsea will have to cash in on him in the next two transfer windows or the prospect of losing the striker on a free transfer in 2016 becomes a real possibility.

The striker would like talks to find out if he has a chance of first-team action regularly next season as there have also been rumours that Lukaku could be included in the deal that takes Costa to Stamford Bridge.
