Florentino Perez's highly controversial and debatable decision to sell their record goalscorer, Cristiano Ronaldo marked the dawn of a new era in the history of Real Madrid. The appointment of Julen Lopetegui was well received by the Real faithful and all seemed to be well and good at the start of the season.

It all turned haywire with the UCL Champions losing four out of five matches including losses to CSKA Moscow, Sevilla and Levante. Lopetegui lost his job upon Real's heavy loss to Barcelona with Santiago Solari filling in.

Due to lack of transfer activity which saw the arrivals of Mariano Diaz, Vinicius Jr. and Alvaro Odriozola - none capable of filling the void of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lopetegui was the victim and had to pay for it with not only the Real job but also the Spanish National Team job.

With the club in the fifth position in the La Liga having scored a mere 22 goals and conceding a whopping 19 goals in just 14 matches, signings are key to overturn the mess. The likes of Isco, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale have under-performed with the goalscoring burden placed solely on Karim Benzema.

Without a commendable back up to Casemiro, oppositions have carved up the Real defence with relative ease. With talks of a fall-out between Isco and Solari, one can expect Real to venture into the market for a proven goalscorer and a defensive midfielder albeit a temporary one. Wonderkid Brahim Diaz has already been linked with the Los Blancos and could initiate a spew of signings in the winter transfer window.
