Diego Costa and Alexis Sanchez win big at EA Sports' FPL Half-time Awards

EA Sports recently gave out awards for five players for excelling in the first half of the Fantasy Premier League in their 2014/15 FPL Half-time Awards with Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez and Chelsea’s Deigo Costa bagging the top two awards.

The list of the five recipients of the awards was released on Premier League’s official website yesterday. The numbers and figures taken into factor for the awards are only till game week 19.

Highest Points Scorer – Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez, who had moved from Spanish giants Barcelona last summer, has been Arsenal’s most consistent player this season, having scored 10 goals and assisting 6 from 19 appearances for the Gunners in the Premier League.

He has accumulated an exceptional 120 points in the first half of the campaign, two more than second placed Eden Hazard. Rated at £11.4m currently, Sanchez has been picked by 41% of the FPL managers.

Fans’ favourite – Diego Costa

Yet another La Liga export, Diego Costa has been adjudged as the Fan Favourite despite his hefty price tag of £11.2m which has seen an increase of more than half a million pounds over the course of the season. The Brazil-born Spaniard has been picked up by an impressive number of 59.4% FPL managers.

Costa has been a constant threat in front of the net for Chelsea this season, scoring 14 goals in 17 appearances for the Blues, racking up 91 points by game week 19.

Most saves by a goalkeeper – Robert Green

Among other winners, Robert Green picked up the trophy for making the most saves by a goalkeeper. The Queens Park Rangers shot-stopper has made an incredible number of 67 saves during the first half of the FPL this season. Valued at £4.5 million, the 34-year-old has accumulated 63 points.

Best Under-21 player – Raheem Sterling

Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling was awarded the trophy for the best U-21 player ahead of the likes of Saido Berahino, James Ward-Prowse and Harry Kane.

The England international’s value may have seen a cut due to the poor form of Liverpool recently, but he remains a favourite among the FPL managers as he features in 32.2% of the teams. Sterling had 86 points to this name after 19 gameweeks.

Biggest Price Increase – Nathaniel Clyne

Nathaniel Clyne of Southampton picked up the award for the Biggest Price Increase whose value has seen the highest increment in the first half of the campaign. The pacey right-back was valued at £5 million in the start of the season but is now available for £5.9 million at the moment. Clyne has appeared in a total of 18 matches for the Saints, having scored 2 and assisting 1 in the process.
