What's the story?

Last night, Juventus star Ronaldo helped his side extend their lead at the top of the Serie A table with a win over Frosinone. In the process, the Portuguese ace achieved a rare footballing milestone for the second time in his career.

In case you didn't know...

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner scored the Bianconeri's third goal of the game, to secure a 3-0 win over 19th-placed Frosinone.

The 34-year-old also notched up a nice assist for Paulo Dybala, who scored the opener in the early minutes of the first half.

The goal adds up Ronaldo's tally to 19 in the Serie A, thereby taking him to second place in the race for the European Golden Shoe, only two goals away from Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi, who has 21 goals under his belt. The Portuguese is also the leading goal-scorer and the player with the joint-most assists in the Italian top-flight.

The heart of the matter

With his goal and assist against Frosinone, Ronaldo has continued a rare consistency in registering goals and assists in three consecutive games, thereby marking the second time in his entire career he has achieved this feat.

The 34-year-old has scored goals and provided assists in his previous Serie A clashes against Parma and Sassuolo. The last time he achieved the milestone was during his successful stint with Real Madrid in November 2014.

What's next?

Juventus sit at the top of the Serie A table, 14 points clear of second-placed Napoli.

The league table-toppers will now shift their focus to the Champions League, where they have been scheduled to face Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie on Wednesday, February 20.

The crucial second leg of the clash will be played in Turin on March 12.
