Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid looks on during International Champions Cup Championship match against Chelsea
Portuguese and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo believe’s that Real Madrid were getting better with every outing and every passing game.
Playing in the final of the International Champions Cup against Chelsea, Real Madrid won the game 3-1, with the help of two goals from Ronaldo, who was adjudged the ‘man of the match’.
Ronaldo was also named as the best player of the tournament and he said that he was extremely pleased with the way his team was shaping up in the pre season matches.
“The team is getting better, we have trained very well, gradually improving things. I am happy and like how things are going, the team is doing well and I was able to help with goals, which is what I have to do”. he said, as reported on the Real Madrid website.
Cristiano believed that the win against Chelsea was a completely deserved one, as his team played with far more intensity. “The team played at a high level, we were better and deserved the win.” he said.
When asked about different strategies that could be adopted in the lead up to the season, he said that it was a good time to experiment. “The preseason is there to try things and it is better to do it now rather than later. I’m almost playing in my position and I feel comfortable”. Ronaldo asserted.
The star striker felt it was important for him to keep contributing with goals, as that would help his team do much better and keep winning games. But when asked about the upcoming Tenth European Cup, he said that things should be taken a step at a time.
“There is a long way to go, we will try to do our best. We have a good team and the new players are very good and hopefully it will come this year”.
He clarified that his celebrations were directed towards his bench and not towards any other source as has been alleged. Ronaldo also had a few words to say about the criticism that keeps getting levelled against him.
“I do my talking on the field, things that happen off of it do not affect me, I aim to help Real Madrid to achieve its objectives and what happens away from there does not hurt me.” he signed off.
