Real Madrid will offer contract extensions to star players Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, with a plan to keep them at Santiago Bernabeu until 2021, according to the Spanish AS.

Cristiano Ronaldo is likely to sign the contract that may not see his wages rise any further, however, it will be an attempt to ensure the Portugese remains and retires at Santiago Bernabeu. Presently, Ronaldo is on a salary of €21 million a year, and it seems the only doubt that looms over the extension is the duration of the contract - whether it is until 2020 or 2021, by which time Ronaldo would have turned 36.

Wales star Gareth Bale is also expected to agree to a contract extension, which according to reports, will see his wages increase from €9 million to €10 million a year and keep the Welsh player at Real Madrid alongside Ronaldo until 2021. Bale’s contract at the moment is until 2019, however, club President Florentino Perez seems more than eager to fulfill his wish of building yet another Galactico legacy.

Cristiano Ronaldo is currently on an extended holiday following his Euro 2016 triumph with the Portugese national team. Ronaldo, meanwhile, is also recuperating after undergoing a surgery for the knee injury that he suffered from Dmitri Payet’s knock during the Euro 2016 final against France.

While this keeps Ronaldo from returning to Madrid until August 10, his agent Jorge Mendes and representatives from the Real Madrid board have already been reported to be discussing his contract renewal over the phone. It appears both the parties will meet in-person once Ronaldo is back in training.
