Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has hit back at Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho’s criticism. The Portuguese tactician had earlier voiced his displeasure at Ronaldo’s antics on the touchline in the 2016 Euro Final, but his compatriot has taken the time to remind Mourinho of his contribution with a subtle tweet.
Mourinho’s criticism while cutting, had some fair points, with him saying “Cristiano Ronaldo didn't help in any way by doing that in the final few minutes of the Euros final. There were 11 players on the pitch doing their job, and the person in charge of directing them was the coach. I saw it as an overload of emotion.”
Unlike Mourinho, who was quite locquacious in his criticism of Ronaldo, the Portuguese superstar was brevity personified. After the news of Mourinho’s criticism was widely circulated last night, Ronaldo took to social media to respond in the following manner :

Ronaldo’s tweet served as a reminder that Portugal won the tournament as a team. With the picture of Bruno Alves, Pepe, Jose Fonte and himself holding the cup aloft – the message on their shirts read ‘One of 11 million’ – a rallying cry for Portugal to be unified – thus hitting back at Mourinho’s criticism.
Mourinho returns to form with his recent comments
Having been out of the spotlight ever since he was sacked by Chelsea, it seems Jose Mourinho has lost none of the sharpness of his tongue. The Portuguese manager began his Manchester United reign by taking a dig at Arsene Wenger, and later went out to call out the Arsenal manager and Jurgen Klopp as ‘unethical’.
It reeks of Mourinho’s tactics of creating an ‘us versus them’ mentality that he has fostered at the start of his spell in every club, which usually provides its fruits in the first or second season, but falls apart soon after.

Ronaldo was at the forefront in Mourinho’s final few months at Real Madrid that had an air of negativity in it, but the Portuguese star later went on to defend himself, saying he has the utmost respect for Mourinho, saying “I have always respected all of my coaches and I try to learn from them. As we say in Portugal, I don’t spit on the plate I eat from.”
