If Ronaldo maintains his incredible goal-scoring form he can end the season with 80 league goals

Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal scoring record in the 2014-15 season has been phenomenal. He has 13 goals in six league matches which include 3 hat-tricks. But wait, there’s more. It is so phenomenal that he has outscored 104 out of the 116 clubs in Europe’s Top 6 leagues.

Only Real Madrid (25), Olympique de Marseille (23), Chelsea (21), Barcelona and Benfica (19), Valencia (17), Bayern Munich, Bordeaux, Lyon and PSG (15), Manchester City and Vitoria SC(14) have scored more goals than the Portuguese superstar. Even at 29, when most football players start to decline, Ronaldo is in prime physical shape running rings around defenders and terrorising goalkeepers with unstoppable shots from distance.

Furthermore, the former Manchester United player at 190 goals from 171 league games is only 38 behind Raul’s all time record for Real Madrid (228 goals in 550 games).

At the current rate of 2.16 goals per game for the rest of the season and and playing the same number of games he has over the past few seasons(34), he would finish the campaign on 73 goals beating his personal record of 46 as well as Messi’s record of 50 made in 2011-12 by a mile.

Recently, his agent Jorge Mendes revealed that it is impossible for any club to buy him since his release clause is a whopping 1 billion euros. His biggest rival Lionel Messi’s impressive stats of 6 goals and 6 assists in 7 games look ordinary in comparison.

If his rich vein of form continues, he could well be collecting his second successive Ballon d’Or trophy in January next year.
