What’s the story?

Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo is now the leading top scorer in the Serie A and also leads in terms of assists in the Italian top flight this season.

In case you didn’t know…

Ronaldo joined Juventus from Real Madrid last summer for a club record fee of £99.2 million. The Portuguese struggled at the beginning of the season but has since risen to the occasion in recent months.

The 34-year-old has already made his mark in the Premier League and La Liga and is on course to do same in the Serie A. Ronaldo has won numerous trophies across England and Spain including multiple league titles and Champions League trophies.

On a personal level, the former Manchester United star has also emerged top-scorer in both the English and Spanish top flight league. Ronaldo won the Premier League top-scorer award in the 2008/09 season and also top-scored thrice during his time with Real Madrid in La Liga.

The heart of the matter

Ronaldo has continued with his good form at Juventus and is still dominating in terms of goals and assists in the Serie A. On Friday, the 34-year-old scored and set up another as Juve recorded a 3-0 home win over Frosinone.

Ronaldo’s goal was his 19th in the Serie A this season, making him the top-scorer in the division. His assist was also his 8th in the league, moving him joint-top of the Serie A assists chart alongside AC Milan’s Suso.

As it stands, the Portuguese is topping in both goals and assists in the Italian top flight, in what has been an incredible debut season in Serie A.

What’s next?

Ronaldo will look to get on the scoresheet again when Juventus travel to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in midweek.
