What's the story?

Juventus and Germany midfielder Emre Can has hailed Juventus and Serie A top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player in the world, while claiming that no other player can match the charismatic star's level at the moment, talking to Tuttosport.

He was clearly impressed by the Portuguese superstar's humble behavior on and off the pitch, given he's such a big player who has won multiple accolades and has a trophy cabinet which dwarfs even the trophy hauls of some of the very successful clubs in comparison.

In case you didn't know...

Ronaldo has 19 goals in 24 Serie A appearances for the Old Lady this season, which makes him the top scorer in Italy and puts him in the second spot in European Golden Shoe contention. Also, he now has the most assists in the league.

Emre Can faced the 34-year-old in the UEFA Champions League final last year when the latter won the competition for the fifth time overall and fourth time in a Real Madrid jersey.

The heart of the matter...

Can, who now shares the dressing room with Ronaldo at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, was talking with Tuttosport, following Juventus' 3-0 win over Frosinone in the Serie A and when asked about Ronaldo, he replied with a praise for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. He said:

"Here is Cristiano Ronaldo, the biggest player in the world, but in the locker room he is the same as the others and behaves naturally."

"Cristiano, he is a crazy football player."

We can assume that the 25-year-old midfielder doesn't consider Lionel Messi, who is the leading goalscorer in Europe at the moment, the best player in the world at the moment. He further explained why he thinks his teammate's level is unreachable. He explained:

"You realize[his level] when he plays, for what he feels on the pitch, for the goals he scores, for the way he thinks the actions: I think nobody can reach him."

The reigning Italian champions have become extremely reliant on Ronaldo for offensive flair in his very first season, with the player being involved in 29 of their 52 league goals.

What's next?

The question of whether Ronaldo is the best player in the world will never have a definite answer. But, if the player helps his current employers to their first European title since 1996, he will leave behind a great legacy.
