Cristiano Ronaldo, the Real Madrid superstar, has offered to contribute financial support to help the victims of wildfires that have been almost destroying his home island of Madeira.

Fires have been blazing on the Island for the last three days. Four people have died so far and more than 300 hundred have been injured and more than 1000 people have had to be shifted. There is a conjecture that the blaze, which started outside the city may have been fired intentionally and the heavy wind has done the rest of the damage.

So far several suspects have already been arrested. However, the Madeira Island continues to fight the blaze. Spain and Italy have sent fighter jets to help firefighters contain to put out the massive flames. High temperature and massive wind are not helping those efforts. So far around 40 homes have been destroyed by the fire and a five-star hotel in Funchal.

As reported by many agencies, The Ronaldo financial aid reports were made by Sic Noticias. They did not tell how much Ronaldo offered or what his money would fund to the Island.

Apart from his great skills in football, Cristiano Ronaldo is also known for his benevolence. Ronaldo’s history of kindness and patriotism, not to mention his huge bank account, would suggest that the former Manchester United attacker is willing to offer as much as money the Island needs. He has already spoken on the phone with Miguel Albuquerque, President of the Island.

The CR7 may have faced some criticism for the way he celebrated after winning this year’s Champions League final but few will complain about his latest gesture of goodwill. After a muted display during the play against Atletico Madrid, the Portuguese skipper scored the winning spot-kick in the penalty shoot-out and proceeded to celebrate in typically egotistic fashion. But after the final match, the Real Madrid captain donated his win bonus of €600,000 to good causes.

In 2015, Ronaldo became the most charitable sportsperson in the world. He usually donated all winning bonuses to NGOs via his agent Jorge Mendes. The 31-year-old has supported a number of charities throughout his international career, including World Vision, UNICEF and Save the Children.

Last year after the Nepal earthquake, which killed over 8,000 people, Ronaldo donated £5million to the latter to help their aid efforts in the country.
