In case you didn't know...
Dolores Aveiro was first diagnosed with breast cancer way back in 2007. She got treated for the disease in Portugal and came out healthy from the ailment. However, in her recent interview, she has revealed that cancer has returned and that she is now fighting for her life.
The heart of the matter
She told a Portuguese TV station in an interview: “I was operated on another breast in Madrid, I’ve had radiotherapy and now I’m fighting for my life.”
The 64-year-old, who was in Italy to attend her son's birthday party and help him fight the rape allegations leveled against him, informed the media about her deteriorating health condition.
Ronaldo has always been very vocal about his love for his mother, and Dolores was a constant companion of her son in many of the award ceremonies. In fact, in 2009, Ronaldo donated £100,000 to build a cancer center at the hospital which treated his mother for the ailment.
Since then, she has been on anti-cancer drugs to keep avoid cancer. Her recent revelation has indeed shocked the football world as it was very sudden.
Although Cristiano has been enjoying his professional life with Juventus, the former Real Madrid man has been having a difficult personal life. He has been involved in tax-fraud and rape allegation cases apart from his mother's worsening health. Ronaldo has also been with his girlfriend who lost her father recently. However, he has been in good form for Juventus this season.
