Cristiano Ronaldo continues to scale new footballing heights. The Portugal captain, who is the all-time top-scorer in the UEFA Champions League and has the most international goals by an active player, scored his sixth goal of the ongoing UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers against Luxembourg in Lisbon.

In doing so, Ronaldo became the sixth player to score 700 goals in all competitions for club and country. The rare list is headed by Austrian Josef Biscan (805 goals), followed by Pele (779 goals), Romario (748 goals), Ferenc Puscas (709 goals) and Gerd Muller (701 goals).

By club and country

In club football, Ronaldo has scored 606 goals in 812 appearances for four different clubs.

Ronaldo scored five goals in 31 games for his first professional club Sporting Lisbon in Portugal. This was followed by 118 goals in 292 appearances for Premier League outfit Manchester United, 451 goals in 438 games for La Liga giants Real Madrid, and 32 goals in 51 games for his present club Juventus of Italy.

Ronaldo has scored 94 goals in 161 appearances for his national team Portugal. Barring 17 goals which came in friendlies, all other goals for his country have come in competitive fixtures.

In nine seasons with Real Madrid, Ronaldo amassed 312 La Liga goals in 292 appearances for the Spanish capital club. It is the second-highest goal tally in La Liga history, behind Lionel Messi's 420 goals in 455 appearances for Barcelona.

Ronaldo is the only player in the top-30 goalscorers in the history of La Liga to have a staggering goal per game ratio of 1.06. The former Real Madrid man won two La Liga titles, in 2011-12 and 2016-17.

The Portuguese winger has won five UEFA Champions League titles (2008-09 for Manchester United, 2013-14, 2015-16, 2016-17 to 2017-18 for Real Madrid) - which is the most in the modern era (1992-93 onwards).
