Cristiano Ronaldo will return to England says former teammate

Ronaldo won the English Premier League thrice with Manchester United

Former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been tipped to finish his career in England by his former teammate and friend Jose Semedo, ESPN reports.

Semedo, who now plays for Sheffield Wednesday, played with Ronaldo at Sporting Lisbon during their boyhood days. The midfielder is often spotted with the Portuguese goal machine during holidays and parties.

The Sheffield Wednesday player was talking to Talksport after his club’s thumping 3-0 win over English giants, Arsenal.

When quizzed about his close friend’s future plans, he said, “He is very happy at Real Madrid and he loves English football, he loves English people and deep down I think he will come back to England.

“He doesn’t like he wants to finish his career without coming back to England.

“He said he would wish Real Madrid is in England, but that is not possible so I believe he will end his career in English football.”

Ronaldo’s future has been speculated about a lot in the past two to three years, with Manchester United believed to be the club where he will ultimately move from Real Madrid. He spent six trophy-laden years at Old Trafford, where he made 292 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils, scoring 118 goals in the process.

The Portuguese also won the Ballon d’Or during his time with the club, in 2008.

Ronaldo’s earlier statements have failed to bring down exit rumours

However, the Real Madrid star himself stated after winning the European Golden Shoe award earlier this month that he wants to finish his career with Los Blancos.

He said, “All being well I have a contract here until I'm 33 and as I have said time and again my dream is actually to finish my career here.”

"I want to win more. I still feel good, I feel young, I'm 30 now and I want to play five or six more years, and in these years I want to do well and try and keep the level of recent seasons. I know that it gets harder all the time, but in my head it is possible.”

“I feel good here, I feel useful here and I want that to carry on,” he added.

Mirror reported a month ago that United are planning to bring back the Portugal captain to Manchester, in a deal worth £90million. Reportedly, PSG are also trying their best to woo the forward to their club. The Paris-based club, supposedly, had a bid of £110 million rejected by Real Madrid earlier in the summer transfer window.

Anyhow, it will be interesting to see as to where the Real Madrid’s record goal scorer ends his career.
