Mertens is on Manchester United’s radar

Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda’s daily transfer news and rumours roundup for 19th April 2017. England’s heavyweights are battling it out to sign players as soon as the transfer window opens and their European rivals are looking at key signings as well. As always, we summarise the best news in our roundup. Let’s head straight in.


Manchester United and Spurs vying to sign Mertens

Belgian forward Dries Mertens has attracted considerable interest after his improved performances for Napoli this season. Mertens has scored 21 goals in 29 appearances for the Naples side this season including five in the Champions League and according to reports from DH, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the forward.

However, it looks as though Napoli will battle to keep their star man after agreeing to match his reported £2.5 million wages offered by the English clubs. Although no deal has been struck at the moment, the race is on for his signature.


Liverpool likely to land Joe Hart

Hart could be back in England soon

According to reports from The Sun, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has made a move to sign Joe Hart from Manchester City for £20 million. The English goalkeeper is on loan at Torino this season and will return to the Etihad after his loan spell ends. However, with Pep Guardiola deeming the goalkeeper surplus to requirements, he could be shown the exit door when he returns. Liverpool are leading the race to sign the Englishman despite a number of Premier League clubs sniffing around.


Paris Saint-Germain want Arsenal star

Ozil is poised to leave the Emirates

PSG are reportedly keeping tabs on Arsenal star Mesut Ozil's situation at the London club. According to Yahoo Sport, the French club, who were also interested in signing Alexis Sanchez earlier, are keeping a close eye on the contract situation of both players.

PSG could table a bid for Ozil in the near future to tempt the German playmaker to Ligue 1. However, it could take the German some convincing even though he is nearing the end of his contract.


Manchester United keen on Keane

Keane set for United return

Manchester United are keen on bringing Burnley’s Michael Keane back to Old Trafford according to the Daily Mirror. The former Manchester United youth product has been added by Jose Mourinho to the club’s summer shopping list and could cost as much as £30 million. A number of Premier League clubs are in for Keane but it looks as though he could move back to his former employers. Keane is contracted to Burnley up until 2018.


Bournemouth emerge as Terry favourites

Terry has confirmed that he will leave Chelsea at the end of the season

Premier League minnows Bournemouth have emerged as the favourites to sign Chelsea skipper John Terry following the announcement that he will be leaving Stamford Bridge at the end of the season. However, it is believed that the Blues skipper will delay the announcement until the end of the season according to reports from the Daily Telegraph. Terry could also leave for foreign soil with the US, Dubai and China possible destinations. However, his final decision is still not known.
