Adding to the already elongated list of Liverpool’s headaches is the news that striker Daniel Sturridge could be out of action for 4 months due to an ankle injury.

The 23 year old player, injured his ankle ligaments while on international duty for England in last week’s 1-1 friendly draw against the Republic of Ireland at Wembley. The forward was immediately withdrawn from the England squad for last night’s clash in Brazil and returned to Merseyside to assess the extent of the damage.

However the medical scans have brought back bad news for the Anfield unit as Sturridge could be sidelined for three to four months.

Sturridge who has made quite an impact since arriving for £12m from Chelsea in January, netting 11 goals in 16 appearances will miss a huge portion of Liverpool’s pre-season preparations and some part of the start of the new season as well.
