Dante has come up in the news for all the wrong reasons

Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has come under criticism from one of his former players, Dante. Dante played under the Spanish coach when they were both at Bayern Munich.

The experienced defender now plays for French club OGC Nice and has lashed out on the Spaniard manager about his coaching methods.

Pep Guardiola has received praise from players, managers, and pundits for the tactics that he employs on all his clubs, but Dante doesn’t seem to agree.

Dante, who left Bayern to join Wolfsburg during Guardiola’s reign spoke to German newspaper Bild, "He doesn't speak to you, as a player you don't know where you stand. There's trainers who are world-class tactically, but less brilliant as human beings; like Guardiola."

Dante arrived at Munich in 2012 from Borussia Monchengladbach and had a successful spell under Guardiola.

The player left for Wolfsburg in 2015 and has now joined Nice in the recently concluded transfer window. Guardiola had wanted the defender to stay at Bayern and famously once said that he wished he had a 1,000 Dantes in his side.

Later, the 32-year-old later clarified on twitter and said that his quotes were twisted and it came out in a misguided way. He criticised Bild for twisting his words and for creating unnecessary controversy.

Guardiola will be surprised with Dante’s original comments in the initial interview with Bild as he had an excellent rapport with several players. But, as Dante says in his Twitter clarification, his words may have been twisted by the press.

Nice have been busy this summer as they completed deals for Dante and football's pantomime villain, Mario Balotelli. Pep Guardiola, on the other hand, is sweating over whether he will have Sergio Aguero for the all-important Manchester derby, after the striker was found to have struck West Ham's Winston Reid with an elbow.
