Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is set to sign a new contract with his club which will see his wages go up to £75,000, a £20,000 rise from his current salary.

The Spain national has had a successful time in the English club since his arrival from Spanish club Atletico Madrid in 2011 winning the Premier League title last season.

De Gea ‘s contract with United expires in 2016 but the Champions are eager to keep the youngster for themselves with the hike and keep Barcelona at bay.

The player’s agent Jorge Mendes is set to fly down to Manchester this week in order to finalize the new deal. The 22-year-old has played 91 games for the club since his arrival.
