Di Matteo: Sacked by Chelsea then named Coach of the Year

It sounds ridiculous really considering what has happened at Chelsea in the last month but Roberto Di Matteo was named Coach of the Year last night less than a month after being sacked.

The Italian who delivered the Champions League trophy to Roman Abramovich in May — only to be ditched by the Chelsea owner in November — picked up more silverware with the top gong at the Credit Suisse Awards in Zurich.

If anything seeing Di Matteo smiling holding the award HERE, is another reminder of what a ridiculous decision it has been to sack him and replace him with Rafa Benitez.

For Di Matteo it’s recognition once again of what he achieved at this football club in such a short space of time and enhances his reputation further within the football community. I sincerely hope he gets back in the game as soon as possible.

For now, I would like to say “Well done!” to Robbie. Good luck for the future and thank you for everything you have ever done for Chelsea as a player and as a manager.

Here is the best tribute video there is for Robbie from HDWORLDLEAGUETV on YouTube.
